magneto-optics in semiconductors

Mildred Dresselhaus is a professor at MIT. Her career in 1958 with magneto-optics in semiconductors and investigating the electronic structure of semi-metals such as graphite. When the laser was discovered, she utilized it to create a new model for the electronic structure of graphite. These days she studies carbon nanotubes and graphene (single atomic layers of graphite).
