Pieter Zeeman

Physics

Pieter Zeeman was awarded the 1902 Nobel Prize in physics jointly with Lorentz "in recognition of the extraordinary service they rendered by their researches into the influence of magnetism upon radiation phenomena." Zeeman had a passion for doing experiments in atomic and quantum physics. One of his most famous experiments is the magnetic splitting of spectral lines, termed the Zeeman effect, and experimental proof of Lorentz’s theories involving electrons and electromagnetic processes.
