Guglielmo Marconi

Guglielmo Marconi shared the Nobel Prize in physics in 1909 with Karl Braun "in recognition of their contributions to the development of wireless telegraphy." Marconi successfully sent wireless messages in 1895 by transmitting Morse code via electromagnetic waves and receiving the signal using an antenna. By 1899 he had created wireless communications between England and France across the English Channel, and in 1907 succeeded began transatlantic communication.
